Introduced in the Middle Ages in Northern Europe, Paste Paper is a decorative paper technique that produces highly textured surface design. In our contemporary context, we can jump past it’s initial uses in bookbinding to more varied ideas like stationary, gift wrap, packaging, home decor, as well as unlimited fine art areas like collage, assemblage, and mixed media. Perfectly suited to a one-day workshop, this fast-paced, hands-on art experience will be fun, messy, and you’ll leave with a mountain of beautiful papers.

Paste Paper, one of the earliest forms of decorative papers, Paste Paper is commonly used for bookbinding, as well as calligraphy, printmaking, collage, stamping, and origami. Paste Paper is created using acrylic paint or similar pigments mixed in a suspension of paste. After being applied to a dampened sheet of paper, the colored paste can be patterned by pulling various utensils across the paste.
