Come join Cristina Hajosy in her private art studio for an exciting weekend of paper marbling. Spend one day or 2 with all the time you’ll need to create unique papers with a wide range of marbling patterns and techniques from historical themes to contemporary designs.
We’ll focus on Turkish-style marbling. This method, “Ebru”, can produce lovely figurative designs of fish, flowers, birds. and abstract shapes or go with the traditional combed patterns. Your floating designs may be free-form, combed, or even blown.
This technique combines artistic sensibilities with mediative, creative thought, and even some science with surface tension and fluid dynamics.
Spend the morning learning the process or jump right in, if you’re familiar with the materials. This workshop is structured to be an introduction for beginners or an open studio for intermediate or advanced students. Fostering an open, relaxed environment where all levels of artists can learn and share ideas, producing beautiful papers, and expanding your art practice; that’s what it’s all about.
Each participant will have their own vat for printing. Custom acrylic color and paper choices available. Sample papers may include: Canson Ingres, Texoprint paper, Masa paper, Mi-Tientes pastel paper, cardstocks and greeting cards. You’ll leave with a stack of papers and strategies for marbling on your own.
The morning will begin with fresh brewed coffee and home-baked goodies at 9:45am, and we’ll break for a fresh, vegetarian lunch with homemade soup, salad and sandwiches.
Open to everyone ages 18 & up, all media and skill levels.
It’s a messy business, so please dress accordingly!
