Learn a range of image transfer techniques—including solvent, acrylic gel medium, and adhesive transfers—and incorporate them into layered collage compositions. Through demonstrations and creative exercises, students will experiment with surface treatments, texture, layering, and image manipulation to transform photographs from representational to abstract works.
The day will begin with an introduction to essential tools, materials, and transfer methods before moving into hands-on projects and artistic “stretch exercises” designed to spark creativity and new ways of seeing imagery.
Bring favorite photographs, Xerox copies, magazine images, or other printed materials to work from. The instructor will also provide a large collection of vintage books, maps, sheet music, magazines, photographs, and ephemera to supplement your work. Guidance will also be provided on image selection, photo labs, and strategies for getting the most out of a copy shop visit.
Open to all media and skill levels. Please bring drinks, snacks, and lunch.
A $40 materials fee is payable to the instructor in class.
