Enter the world of sculptural artist’s books. This workshop will concentrate on the Lotus Book and a compound version, the Explosion Book. These fascinating book structures can challenge and expand notion of bookbinding into paper arts, sculpture, photo displays, holiday decorations, jewelry and more.
We’ll cover basic adhesive skills, using glues and adhesive transfer methods, folding, scoring, and all the basics skills needed for book making. There’s plenty of time for discussion about personal project ideas, hybrid possibilities, and conceptual potentials while getting it done.
Cristina’s stash of hand-printed marbled and paste papers will inspire many great combinations of colors and textures. Beads, buttons, ribbons and threads will be available to complete the projects.
All materials are provided along with technique handouts.
