Private Bookmaking Workshop with Cristina Hajosy
Workshop Title: Artist’s Books – Accordions & Beyond
Date & Time: Sunday, June 28, 2015 – 10am to 4pm
Location: Canton, MA
Limited to 6 students
Tuition: $125 includes all materials and lunch
Of all the non-traditional book structures, the Accordion, or “Concertina” is my favorite for it’s dramatic presentation. Experienced by the viewer as both a display easel and a book, the accordion book provides multiple interactions and perspectives that a traditional book cannot. The long, folding panel is especially successful in presenting photographs, collage, small artworks, or anything that has a narrative or linear progression. From a simple single sheet to more complicated variations, the possibilities are endless. By the end of this one day workshop, you’ll fall in love with this book structure too!
Throughout the day, we’ll construct several projects to practice techniques, to get familiar with the materials, and to explore hybrid creations. Then, we’ll create a unique, larger-scale artist’s book as the finale.
The morning will begin with fresh brewed coffee and home-baked goodies at 9:45am, and we’ll break for a fresh, vegetarian lunch with homemade soup, salad and sandwiches.
Open to everyone ages 18 & up.
