Experimental Printmaking (and a Book) – New Adult Workshop at Brookline Adult & Community Education, 4 Tuesdays from September 29 – October 20, 2015 from 6:30 – 9:00pm Printmaking is a process of creative discovery because one can never be sure of what each print will bring. Often, the more fun you have, the better the artwork becomes. As you create and manipulate a series of images, you will become a better image-maker as you work on composition, texture, mood, process, and outcome Repeating an image or similar motifs or symbols always leads to an interesting collection. Conceptual and abstract ideas find a way to enter the process with this relaxed, fun experiment.

This workshop is structured to be an introduction for beginners or an open studio for intermediate or advanced students. Fostering an open, relaxed environment where all levels of artists can learn and share ideas, producing beautiful papers, and expanding your art practice; that’s what it’s all about. This one-day workshop gives you a window into the secret world of marbling. Paper marbling, not unlike magic and illusion trickery, has been a technique known only by a select few. No longer. We’ll focus on Turkish-style marbling. This method, “Ebru”, can produce lovely figurative designs of fish, flowers, birds. and abstract shapes or go with the typical combed patterns. Your floating designs may be free-form, combed, or even blown.
Spend the morning learning the process or jump right in, if you’re familiar with the materials. This workshop is structured to be an introduction or an open studio for intermediate or advanced students.
