This is it. The best technique I know for paper arts. If you’ve ever gone to 5 different art supply or craft stores looking for just the right paper…without luck? Then, you’ll love this! Paste Paper, one of the earliest forms of decorative papers, is commonly used for bookbinding, as well as calligraphy, printmaking, collage, stamping, and origami. Paste Paper is created using acrylic paint or similar pigments mixed in a suspension of paste. After being applied to a dampened sheet of paper, the colored paste can be patterned by pulling various utensils across the paste.
The true nature of this technique is seated within the realm of printmaking as a monoprint. Each paste paper is unique.
You’ll receive technique PDF and YouTube video link for directions for paste preparation, materials needed, and setting up for the session.
With an open studio feel – we’ll meet and greet, talk about the history of paste paper and an overview of the process, and then we’ll get busy. We’ll cover coloring, texturing tools, and a wide selection of papers. Two hours is perfect for an artistic stretch. Plenty of time to complete papers for a specific project. Explore surface textures found in your own environment. Connect with other artists, both creatively and personally.
Open to everyone ages 18 & up, all media and skill levels.
Just a quick note, paste paper is a little messy. I suggest wearing an old shirt!
