Workshop Title: Photo-based Mixed Media
Date & Time: Wednesday, July 10, 2019 – 10am to 4pm
Location: Canton, MA
Limited to 6 students
Tuition: $120 includes all materials, technique handouts and lunch (except your original photography!)
Photo-based imagery within mixed media has become very popular. Along side other collage materials, image transfers give the artist an ability to layer and control the transparency of the ingredients in their artworks. This workshop will focus on the use of photographic images in non-traditional ways, especially image transfers and surface treatments. Adhesive, acrylic gel medium, solvent, and encaustic transfers will be introduced, as well as, several small projects.
Explore boundaries between drawing, painting and collage. Learn how to make a collage using a variety of tools to manipulate and explore your images in new ways. From representational to abstract, all types of imagery can be elevated. Bring your favorite images, photographic prints, ink jets, laser prints, xeroxes, etc. Happy to consult on image selection and reproduction resources and tips.
We’ll break for a fresh, vegetarian lunch with homemade soup, salad and sandwiches.
Open to everyone ages 18 & up, all media and skill levels.
It’s a messy business, so please dress accordingly!
