The Looking Glass group member exhibition presented 109 photographs submitted by artists from around the country. This show recognized Pittsburgh Celebrates Glass! 2007, a yearlong celebration created to honor the significant role that glass and glass art play in the vibrancy of the Pittsburgh region. It is the result of more than 70 cultural, civic and community organizations, including Silver Eye Center for Photography, coming together to work in collaboration to develop unique glass-related programs and to promote them with one voice.
What comes to mind when you think of The Looking Glass? Some people picture reflections while others interpret this idea in a less literal fashion. Cristina Hajosy’s photograph combines a traditional notion of reflection with distorted perception to explore woman’s body image, body acceptance, body modification and her relationship with the mirror.
