This Fall, I’m offering 2 sections of Paper Marbling and a Handmade Books workshop. All are in the evening as single sessions at Needham Community Education, located in Needham High School. Join us for a creative night out. All skill levels welcome – all materials provided.
Fall 2022
Paper Marbling – Section 1 (in-person) Wed., September 14th 6-9pm
Paper Marbling – Section 2 (in-person) Thurs., October 20th 6-9pm
Spend a fun evening learning about and experimenting with the ancient Turkish Ebru marbling technique, using prepared acrylic paints. Dress for a wonderful mess! You will discover the tranquil rush, the movement of the colors across the surface, and the excitement of pulling prints off the marbling size. Create traditional patterns, rake or blow your designs, and explore by mixing styles.
Handmade Books Wed., December 7th 6-9pm
Explore the possibilities for crafting handmade artist books–from single sheet constructions, accordions and simple sewn bindings. This workshop will survey the materials and techniques needed to create a foundation for future book projects. You will complete a set of colorful templates to save as patterns or finish them with content for small, personal artist’s books.
