Join Cristina at the New Art Center in Newton for Wednesday evenings in the fall. Mixed Media – Photo Based and Image Transfer runs from September 16 through October 21, 2015 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Photo-based imagery within mixed media has become very popular. Along side other collage materials, image transfers give the artist an ability to layer and control the transparency of the ingredients in their artworks. This workshop will focus on the use of photographic images in non-traditional ways, especially image transfers and surface treatments. Solvents, acrylic gel medium and adhesive transfers are some of our projects.

New Date! Private Paper Marbling Workshop – Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 10am to 4pm with Cristina Hajosy. Paper Marbling Projects – Our marbling experiments will begin with a basic overview of “proper” Turkish paper marbling, called “Ebru”. Students will have access to a variety of fresh, new marbling trays, as well as, aged marbling size, and even contaminated mixtures with unique and unpredictable outcomes. Learning the “rules” and breaking them, that’s what this workshop will encourage. Your floating designs may be free-form, combed, blown, or perhaps a mixture. Having several print surfaces evolving at the same time can fill in the down time between dropping the colors and the liquid flow, drift, and crackling. I find the transformations to be hypnotic.

Springtime means poetry at the Attleboro Arts Museum! On Thursday, May 28, the Museum will host the 9th annual Boston Poetry Slam, the Providence Poetry Slam, and other invitees in a live poetry competition to showcase local poets traveling to the 2015 National Poetry Slam. Visitors to the Museum that evening will enjoy a poetry open mic and top-notch performance competition, including an opportunity to judge the slam with Simone Beaubien as the SlamMaster. Poets, listeners, and art enthusiasts of all ages attended this high-energy literary event. Several visual artists will be creating artworks around the perimeter of the museum in reaction to the poetry slam… “performance” art, of sorts.
