She has developed her skills in 20 years of practice as a photographer, teacher, bookmaker, printmaker, paper marbler and mixed media artist. Cristina's art classes are featured at various art schools, museums, at exclusive workshops and via private instruction for students of all ages.

A day experimenting with paper marbling. We’ll focus on Turkish-style marbling. This method, “Ebru”, can produce lovely figurative designs of fish, flowers, birds. and abstract shapes or go with the traditional combed patterns. This all-day workshop will explore a beloved book structure: the Japanese puncture (or “stab”) binding. This technique is especially useful as it joins individual sheets into a text block. The sheets can be edited and sequenced by the artist, then bound, resequenced, and then bound again and again! Perfect for visual journals, print collections, photo albums, signature books, and upscale scrapbooking, you will find the Japanese puncture book has endless uses.

Bookmaking – Flag Books – Private Studio Workshop – February 11, 2017

Flag books have wonderful sculptural possibilities. With multiple angles of view, they provide interesting double narrative potentials, contrasting viewpoints, or “yin and yang”, if you will. Is it some type of struggle, or perhaps a union? Viewers enjoy the visual movement and performative qualities of flag books. They beg the viewer to play and to keep interacting with the artwork. There so many approaches to content. Excellent for creative poetry, wish lists, sweet nothings, photographs, abstract designs, and more!
