PIVOT – Group Art Exhibit – Newton Open Studios – through June 17, 2016

detail, Swallow, photo-based mixed media by Cristina Hajosy

I’m thrilled to have 2 new artworks in the PIVOT group show!  Both feature photo image transfers with mixed media additions from medical textbooks, magazine clip art, and personal ephemera scraps.  Transparent layering with both adhesive and acrylic medium transfers opens up the possibilities.  These techniques act as metaphors for the hectic, layered lives we lead and the blending of public and private, personal and business, fantasy and reality.

Newton Open Studios artists were asked to submit works that represent a new direction. The new direction might be an experiment, a conscious reinvention, or an accidental discovery. For each of these artists, this pivot has created fertile new ground for creativity.

The PIVOT exhibit will be up from April 28 thorugh June 17, and is open from 8:30am to 5pm weekdays, and until 8:30 pm on Tuesdays.
