Bookmaking Workshop at Hajosy Arts – Japanese Puncture/Stab Bindings – Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017

Jpuncture1

This all-day workshop will explore a beloved book structure: the Japanese puncture (or “stab”) binding. This technique is especially useful as it joins individual sheets into a text block. The sheets can be edited and sequenced by the artist, then bound, resequenced, and then bound again and again! Perfect for visual journals, print collections, photo albums, signature books, and upscale scrapbooking, you will find the Japanese puncture book has endless uses.

New Workshop at MassArt! Paper Marbling Weekend – January 9-10, 2016

pce_logo

Spend a weekend learning several types of paper marbling with Cristina Hajosy. Make a mountain of unique paper designs for use in mixed media projects, collage, bookbinding, greeting cards, calligraphy, or printmaking. Many cultures have explored the notion of floating colors on the surface of liquids as a way to create decoration. Each style of marbling has its own design potential, color saturation, workflow, and even predictability. We’ll cover Turkish Ebru, Japanese Suminagashi, and several modern variations. Each student will have their own vat for printing. All materials are included, along with great paper and cardstock choices, custom colors, and course handouts. January 9 and 10, 2016 from 10am to 4pm

Experimental Printmaking (and a Book) – New Adult Workshop at Brookline Adult & Community Education, 4 Tuesdays from September 29 – October 20, 2015 from 6:30 – 9:00pm Printmaking is a process of creative discovery because one can never be sure of what each print will bring. Often, the more fun you have, the better the artwork becomes. As you create and manipulate a series of images, you will become a better image-maker as you work on composition, texture, mood, process, and outcome Repeating an image or similar motifs or symbols always leads to an interesting collection. Conceptual and abstract ideas find a way to enter the process with this relaxed, fun experiment.
