This combo class includes turning a wooden plate and then decorating it afterward using Turkish-style marbling techniques. Start with pieces of tree limbs and trunks, make them round and take off from there. Beginners will learn basic lathe techniques while experienced students advance to the next level at their own pace. Wood will be provided in class; advanced turners may bring their own. Then decorate the bowls, creating beautiful swirls and mottling colors with marbling. Marbling is a glorious way to spend a day. Both a delight in the making, as well as the having. You’ll be amazed at the process and your creations. We’ll focus on Turkish-style marbling. This method, “Ebru”, can produce lovely figurative designs of fish, flowers, birds. and abstract shapes or go with the traditional combed patterns. Your floating designs may be free-form, combed, or even blown. Embrace the design experiment with a wide variety of fabrics, sizes and finishes to inspire your creativity. This semi-annual marketplace has an exciting array of vendors with art, artisan goods for the home, gifts, and antiques for creative souls. Hajosy Arts will feature hand-marbled designs on paper, books, art supplies, home decor, and apparel. Special selection of Mid-Century Modern dishes and serving pieces from her Dansk collection will be available, as well.
