Cristina is thrilled to have 5 book works in this lovely exhibition!
Three Generations, 2024
Scroll artist’s book, plexi-plate printmaking on BFK Rives, Hahnemühle Bugra paper, linen thread, fish nets, bamboo, #1/1
60″h x 37″w x .75″d – open
6 prints (7.5″h x 22″w each)
This scroll book depicts 3 generations: My grandmother Inez, my mother Elaine and myself moving from top to bottom. The repeating yet derivative depictions of the fishnets act like metaphors for generational shifts of all kinds. The layers of printing, color saturation and stitch patterns – all contribute to the visual narrative.
Bee Sting, 2024
Acrylic paper marbling, linen thread
14″h x 10″w framed, 20″h x 16″w
Paper marbling, beyond its book art and decorative art heritage, provides opportunities for conceptual art. The design is combined with the erratic black stitches to produce the biting, heated sensation of a bee sting.
Bait Bag Books – Catch #1 – 3, 2023
3 Scroll artist’s books, 2-sided acrylic marbling on Textoprint paper, linen thread, vintage wooden spool, found nylon bait bag, #1/1
Individual book:
6″h x 6″w x 4″d – closed in bag
4″h x 40″l x 2″d – open
